#FarrisStory: a grandfather inspires music
Kurt Owings
"A person who has made a special impact on my life is my grandfather. I've been playing guitar since I was about 10 years old (I am 26 now) and he was always a big supporter of my musicianship, not saying that others weren't but he would always go that extra mile. He would constantly send me song books, magazines, picks, newspaper articles, anything related to guitar, he even gave me his old reel to reel when he found out I was getting into recording (how cool is that right?) over the years he was always happy to hear that I was still playing, playing at open mic nights at coffee shops to battle of the bands in high school. It's been about 8 years since he's passed, and even though my playing never took me to the big times, his support over the years is still a motivation to me to pick up and play even when the responsibilities of life keep piling up."
