#FarrisStory: Turning his life around

"When I was a teenager I came up with a rough crowd and really screwed my life up. I got into some bad situations and ended up at the end of my line. After several of my friends were murdered or incarcerated, I decided I had to take a hard look at life and figure out where I wanted to be when it was all said and done. At the age of 22, I was fortunate enough to get a late start in college. This year I will be 29 and graduating with my PhD in Environmental Science. I'm currently working as a research scientist for a major laboratory and I couldn't be happier with where I am in life. For me, when I smoke a cigar, I think about all of the hard work and dedication that it takes to produce a good smoke. It makes me reflect on the hard work and dedication it took me to turn my life around. Some things are worth the effort."
