"My friend Dan and I every spring meet up and have a guys weekend. He has an incredible collection of cigars in his possession, we always sit out in his back yard on a very starry night and enjoy a cigar and whiskey. To me this brings a great sense of self and friendship because without him as one of my best friends I do not know how my life would be."
"My story will likely be echoed by many who choose to reply and share their own rendition, but this is my story. It's true what they say about a 'Mothers Love'. I was fortunate growing up in that I had both parents in my household, I know many people who sadly never experienced that or if they did, it may have been for only a handful of years due to one circumstance or another. My father was a damned good man, God rest his soul, but my mother and I have always had a special bond and still do to this day. For as long as I can remember she's be my biggest fan, most staunch supporter, best friend and confidant. Her strength has carried me through my darkest days, her guidance has shown me the proper path to take and her kind nature has given me the blueprint on how I should strive to live my life. I'm grown and have a family of my own and thankfully my two sons are practically as close with their Nana as I am. I take great pride in knowing that I have her approval and have put her life-lessons into practice. I strive to be a good father and husband and to treat others with kindness and respect because of how I was raised. Your saying "Happiness is a choice" truly resonates with me, because throughout my life I've been taught to always put my best foot forward and all things will fall into place. One cannot live by that creed if you're not willing to allow happiness into your life. In life, there are so many negative things and negative people trying to impact us. If you're truly happy in knowing who you are and what defines your character, negative influences will never take hold and control you. Instead, you're able to overcome and avoid those pitfalls because of your own internal fortitude, confidence and self-worth. My mother has always inspired me to be the best person I can be, and even though I'm grown, have degrees, etc. and have practically traveled the world seeing things she can only imagine, I continue to learn from and rely on her for strength and guidance. I wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you for allowing me to tell my story!" - Trenton from Kalamazoo, MI
"I'm not writing Teds cigars for a free cigar.. This time. I shared my story about a week and shared that my inspiration was my father. Earlier today I received my free cigar and am smoking it now, I was surprised at how good quality this stick is, but that's not why I'm sharing this thank you letter. In my box I found a note that said share this cigar with your dad. That personal touch is why I'll pick up a Teds cigar the next time I'm at my local cigar shop.

"My story is about my brother who has overcome so much in his life and made our family proud. It started with my brother and me growing up in circumstances far from ideal and heading down the wrong path. The path of drugs and crime although just on the edge. No one in our family taught us any better and at the time we didn't want to learn. One night not long after my brothers eighteenth birthday he got in to a bar fight with two men and ended up stabbing them both many times. We thought his life was over when we heard the twenty five year sentence the judge handed down. We were wrong though, it had just begun. Not knowing that as he sat in the jail he was giving his life over to Jesus and not for bad reasons as you may expect. No he lived in the lord for ten years inside max prison and obtained early release for being a model prisoner even having two books published. Then getting out and riding his bicycle twelve miles each way to and from work. Then marrying his baby's mother, getting a college degree, and a great career all while never missing church on Sunday. God put the strength in him to be a better man and he was strong enough to follow his guidance and for that he will always be my hero. Today it has been almost twenty five years since that horrible event but I don't think I or my brother would trade it for the world. Thank you for letting me share." - Jesse from Rock Island, IL
"The person I chose to write about is my father Lou. He was a pro baseball player, a world war two hero, and a mechanic for Ford but none of these things are why I'm writing. My father was a man who really cared for his family not so much with words but through his actions. As children we never wanted for anything. My father was always kind and generous. Always able to make you feel special as if you were the only thing he was concerned with. He taught me so many things about life. It was the hardest thing watching this strong proud man be ground down by cancer. Today though I remember him like he should be remembered, as the best dad in the world and more than anyone could have hoped for." Luanne from Rock Island, IL

"My Story begins when I married my wife. My wife and I could not have kids together due to her having an early hysterectomy in life. She had already had kids from a previous marriage. Well my youngest son had a child, but could not take care of her as she needed. So we were asked to adopt her from him which we did. Our little baby daughter is such a blessing to us. She is such an inspiration to me, as she gives me meaning. She gave me a title that I thought I would never have in my life time, and that title is Dad. She is such an inspiration to me because I always want to do right, so she will know to in any situation. Thanks for letting me share this story The picture is our first hunting trip together." - Mark from Newberry, SC
"My grandfather was the man who inspired me to be a happy person. What I mean by that is the fact that he wanted me to pursue a lifestyle that I don't need to 'get away' from, and always be happy and content with what I have at any moment in my life. He's always taught me to humble myself and understand that wants aren't needs. Life isn't about acquiring, but to give, to share, and to enjoy. May it be a cigar or a cup of coffee, there is enjoyment in anything, if you allow yourself to see past it. I remember a time where he would take his time to roll his own cigarettes, from natural tobacco and when he smokes one, he enjoys every single puff. 'It's the simple things that makes life easier, why bother making it more complicated?' "
"My Uncle Bob taught me that hard work was always the best way to tackle life. It wasn't about the fame, but about getting things done. He rested very little right up to when he passed away years ago. He was a true father-figure since I did not have one. A great role model and more importantly, a great 'real' person.
I contribute my success to my Uncle Bob showing me what hard work really was without every saying a word - just by examples.
In my words, 'remain teachable' and you will always move ahead and be successful. After all, success is a result from your own journey." - Steve from St. Peters, MO
